Safety & security

There is one entrance and one exit for all visitors. This controlled access is managed by our KidZania Airport Controllers with the support of our security service provider.

KidZania is monitored by a sophisticated network of CCTV equipment, ensuring that there are no “blind spots” in the city.  Our security team is responsible for monitoring the live footage to ensure that our global safety and security standards are upheld.

All of our security staff receive professional training for the correct and efficient management of emergencies. They are responsible for manning the entrance and exit at all times while city is open to ensure all visitors are safe. 

Upon entry, all visitors (both children and adults) receive a security bracelet with built-in GPS tracking capabilities and an identification chip. The bracelet must be worn for the full duration of the visit and will be removed by our staff on exiting. No child will be able to leave KidZania without being matched to the adult who was present at arrival to KidZania. Children aged 0-7 years old must be accompanied by a full paying adult (18+) at all times. Children aged 8 and over can enter the city unaccompanied, but an adult must be present for the admission and exit of all children into and out of KidZania Johannesburg. No adult may enter KidZania without a child to accompany them.

All employees at KidZania are subject to extensive background checks and screenings, including criminal checks, qualification verifications, identify verifications and psychometric testing.  All employees undergo comprehensive training, including full induction, skills development and First Aid Training.

There will be qualified first-aiders present in the City at all times to respond to any medical emergency that may occur.
